Van Horn Trip
Resume road trip, leave the motel and travel west on Interstate 10 for 432 miles, via the towns of Junction, Sonora, Ozona and Fort Stockton. Passing through, plant life in valleys of forests scenic and very pleasant, then table top mountain ranges in valleys with vast desert land of nothing.
Sonora and Ozona
Situated in Sutton County, worth a quick visit into the downtown and explore the old dwellings and famous Courthouse. Ozona in Crockett County much of the same.
In Pecos County worth a drive in to view the large welcome sign and Paisono Pete Statue also visit the Annie Riggs Museum on the main street with a thriving desert garden at the rear plus a courtyard with a restored Pecos County Buggy.
Finish journey continuing on Interstate 10 onto Van Horn stay over night at the Days Inn.
Van Horn situated in Culbertson County, founded in the 1850’s with Threemile and Fivemile Mountains in the back drop. The town has several buildings on the National Register of Historic Places including the 1901 First Presbyterian Church. They have donkey roping competitions which don’t seem to be very popular.
Book out the motel continue the road trip at the side of Mexico on Interstate 10 west through El Paso end of trip and Holiday.
