Land at Los Angeles Airport; hire a car, travel a short distance to the local Travel Lodge and book for a 2 nights stay.
Manhattan Beach
Start the journey from the Motel for the Pacific coast and explore the many beachfront cities viewing the Pacific Ocean. Travel only 5 miles and follow local signs for Manhattan Beach take Sepulveda Boulevard for 3 miles then turn right onto North Valley Drive. It boasts to have the most expensive homes on the California coast with ocean view properties often exceeding 5 million dollars.
Resume trip and travel on a further 4 miles on the Highway 1, South Pacific Coast.
Hermosa Beach
Points of interest are Lighthouse Café, Pier and Beach Statue, then onto Redondo Beach points of interest The Kings Harbour Marina.
Resume trip for 13 miles travel Interstate 1 south and merge into Interstate110 south.
San Pedro
A Port District connected by a thin strip of land to Los Angeles called the Harbour Gateway. Worth a walk around the Port and area, but it’s a little run down.
Resume journey travelling 7 miles north on Interstate 1 merge into Highway 47 onto Interstate 710.
Long Beach
A major port, 2nd busiest in America and one of the worlds largest shipping areas. Take a tour into the Harbour and discover the restored legendary Queen Mary a historic ocean liner, go aboard view the glamour. Many more attractions in the area and the Aquarium of the Pacific exhibiting marine life in the Rainbow Harbour.
Resume trip through Orange County and travel south 72 miles via Highway 1, onto Interstate 405 and back onto Highway 1, visiting 6 beach areas, Seal, Huntington, Newport which have harbours, and Laguna, Clemente and Oceanside with large piers.
Resume the last stage of the trip into San Diego travel south for 22 miles on Interstate 5.
San Diego
The 2nd largest city in California located on the coast of the Pacific near the Mexican boarder. Explore the Bay and Harbour areas walk around and view the magnificent site of a city by the sea. Attractions of Boats, Sailing Crafts and Naval Flag Ships even a Pirate Ship and much more. Drive into the city and have a quick browse.
Return back to the motel for the night.
Travel north 125 miles back to Los Angeles via Interstate 5 for 69 miles exit 85a merge Highway 73 north for 18 miles and exit on 18a to merge with Interstate 405 for 34 miles then follow signs for 4 miles towards the LAX Airport.
