Interstate 10
Book out of the hotel and travel a road trip to Victorville, passing through Apple Valley in a desert and mountain range district. Turn left on Interstate 125 for 12 miles and merge with Interstate 10 for 28 miles and arrive in the town, park and explore.
Victorville
Situated in Victor Valley, located on the old Route 66 known locally as 7th street, look out for the old Route 66 Bridge. Visit the Route 66 Museum formerly the Red Rooster Cafe its 3 display rooms house many exhibits. Take a look at the Southern California logistics Airport being an aircraft bone yard in a area of 2300 acres filled with old aircraft. Appoint of interest being the Mojave Narrows Regional Park with over 1500 species of watchable wildlife.
Resume the road trip into Barstow, continue north 32 miles on Interstate 10.
Barstow
Situated in the San Bernardino County having two main shopping areas, Barstow Mall and Tanger Outlet Centre. Downtown has a number of museums one being the famous Harvey House home to the Route 66 Mother Road Museum, get onto the high street (route 66) view the many historic murals on the Walking Gallery or take the horse and carriage tour.
Continue 9 miles north on Interstate 10 to Peggy Sues 50s Diner near Yermo pull onto the car park, stop for drinks and visit the special gift shop and amazing memorabilia set in a real 50s era. Just great.
Resume onto Calico Ghost Town, travel west and follow local signs for 4 miles into Calico.
Calico
A small Wild West Ghost Town, a ex mining town located on the Old Route 66. View the whole town, being a historic dwelling and having many functions, examine the old form of transport and equipment a great experience to behold.
Last part of today’s trip, continue to Baker traveling back south on Interstate 10 north for 4 miles then turn left and travel for 52 miles into Baker, book in to the Wells Fargo Motel for 1 night, get settled in then visit and explore the area, great for a stop over.
Baker
Only a high street town with places to eat and various gift and memorabilia shops. Does not take too long to roam around, but do view the Worlds Tallest Thermometer.
