Book out of the Motel making sure the car is full of fuel and take a large supply of drinking water. Travel through Death Valley for 167 miles to Scotty’s Castle. Take route 127 north for 84 miles turn left Route 190 west for 47 miles then turn right onto Scotty’s Castle Road traveling for 36 miles.
Travel through the wilderness of Creosote Bush, in Salt Flats and Sand Dunes desert, situated within the Mojave Desert. With mountain ranges on all sides making the valley arid being the hottest and driest in the county. The highest temperature recorded at Furness Creek reached 134f (57c).
Scotty’s Castle is a magnificent site, the castle dating back to the 1930s and located in the Eastern San Californian Valley steeped in history. The only way to enjoy the visit is to take the 3 guided tours available by the park ranges dressed in 1930s clothes, and are very knowledgeable on the local history. The tours are of the Basement underground tunnels, Scotty’s Cabin and inside the castle everything still being original from the past.
Return back through Death Valley to Baker 167 miles then turn left onto Interstate 15 north for 50 miles cross the state line into Nevada travel 1 mile into Primm pull into Primm Resort and book for a 1 night stay over.
