The last part of the journey finishes at Boulder City covering 11 miles a total of 311 on to day’s trip. Book into the El Rancho Motel highly recommended nice area to stay, and explore on foot. Boulder is a city built in 1931 as housing for workers who were building the Hoover Dam, a place of parks which over looks the Lake Mead.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area is a man made lake and reservoir the largest in the USA also houses the famous Boulder Dam. The peaceful lake nestled among two stunning mountain ranges these create a gorgeous backdrop for the beautiful body of water.
Hoover Dam can be viewed on highway 93 at the Hoover Dam visitor centre viewing point, just a short drive from the Motel. The Hoover Dam straddles the mighty Colorado River which forms the borders of Nevada and Arizona which is a marvel of engineering construction said to be the largest dam in the world.
