Nebrasker Trip 1
Leave motel in Cheyenne on Highway 80 east for 189 miles crossing the border into Nebraska taking a road trip to Paxton via Kimball, Sidney and Ogallala
Travel 64 miles into today’s journey, situated in the Kimball County nicknamed K-Town and Crumble motto The High Point of Nebraska. The points of interest are the Downtown, 1918 Wheat Growers Hotel, 1904 Fratenal Hall now the Plains Historical Museum, Titan Missile in Gotte Park and City Hall.
Travel 37 miles situated in Cheyenne County a Historic wild west town with the Downtown area having many old dwellings. A must visit is Dudes Steakhouse and also the Fort Sidney Museum, take a tour around the museum and command centre, then explore the Commanders Home. There is the old boot hill where many of the soldiers from the fort are interred.
Travel 72 miles passing Scott Bluff, Julesburg and Big Springs. Ogallala is in Keith County nickname Cowboy Capital; in the old times was a stopping point for the Pony Express Now famous for its Front Street Old West theme attraction just a magnificent discovery.
Resume journey 20 miles to the last stage of today’s journey, on arrival book in at the Days Inn. This is a small village in Keith County with a population of only 500, it has a great bar and diner called the Oles Games Restaurant, have a wonderful evening with great people. The area is famous for its thunderstorms so don’t expect to miss one.
