Belleville
Situated in the Republic County, explore and visit the Boyer Gallery Museum of animated carvings, Rock Pond and the awesome art deco throughout the town. Also visit High Banks Museum, the hall of Fame, Midge Auto Racing Museum and the Historical Museum.
Resume road trip traveling 190 miles across Kansas on Highway 81 and south for 67 miles. Continue onto the Interstate 135 south, a toll road for 118 miles then turn right onto Route 160 for 5 miles into Wellington via Concordia, Salina, Newton, Wichita, Derby and Wellington. You will pass landscapes which are breath taking, open areas very calm and scenic in rich plantation growth with lots of small homesteads. Some of these are into winery, others are farmers, many properties having stables with horses. There are wonderful lakes both sides of the highway nature being at its best.
Concordia
Travel 19 miles, situated in the Cloud County, with historic dwellings and points of interest being Brown Grand Theatre, the Masonic Temple, Nazareth Convert, National Orphan Train Museum and World War 2 POW Camp.
Salina
Travel 54 miles, situated in Salina County located in the one of the world’s largest wheat producing areas. Points of interest are the Yesteryear Museum with many historic artifacts of farm equipment, antique tractors and steam engines. Visit the Smokey Hill Museum with a variety of educational exhibits and the Rolling Hills wildlife Adventure and Museum featuring a zoo with many rare animals.
Newton
Travel 64 miles, situated in Harvey County, a small town not too much of interest, the Kansas Sports Centre worth a look.
Continue to Wichita book into Days Inn for 1 night giving ample to explore the area.
Wichita
The largest city in Kansas nicknamed Cow Town, in the Sedgwick County, a very modern city with numerous nightclubs, restaurants, shopping centres, museums and parks. It’s located on the Arkansas River the ideal spot to view the area and in the evenings it seems to come to alive. Visit the Sedwich County Park situated at the side of the Arkansas River and the Botanico, in the heart of the city having many attractions in cultural cultivation. Just browse around many things to discover.
Leave Motel and resume journey onto Wellington 35 miles before crossing the border into Oklahoma at South Heaven.
Wellington
Located in Summer County also known as the Wheat Capital of the World, visit the Downtown area explore the historic dwellings before saying goodbye to Kansas.
