Leave Motel travel north 12 miles following the local signs for Colorado National Monument situated in desert high land part of the National Park Services. With the spectacular canyons cut deep into sand stone with granite rock formations in some areas. The features attraction is the Monument Canyon which runs the full width of the park and includes rock formations as Independence Monument, The Kissing Couple and Coke Arches. Said to be the picturesque Colorado of striated cliff walls, rock arches, high messa’s and ample wildlife.
Resume road trip go back to the Grand Junction then go east onto the Interstate 70 for 73 miles take the exit 80 Route onto 13 into Rifle. It’s the regional centre for the cattle ranching industry and the quaint Downtown section is full of western heritage and features antique shops, historic museums and dwellings.
Resume road trip north on Route 13 for 3 miles take Route 325 onto Route 217 covering 14 miles into the Rifle Park. Purchase a pass and drive around the park enjoy the stunning scenery.
Resume trip south, Route 217 onto Route 325 for 14 miles turn right on Route 13 for 38 miles and go through Garfield County. An area of green fields and mountain ranges viewing the farm dwellings with all sorts of livestock, on reaching the Rio Blanco County stop at Meeker. The surrounding area is largely used for agricultural based on the side of the White River and the base of a long ridge known as China Wall .pull in and explore the town.
Resume the road trip travel in Muffat County look for the many roaming Deer into Baggs leaving Colorado over to boarder into Wyoming.
