Colorado is the 38th state of a America and joined the union in 1878, nicknamed the Centennial State and the capital city is Denver. It encompasses most of the Southern Rocky Mountains and the Western edge or the Great Plains. One third of the area is flat and rolling land, with plains known as the Praries containing deciduous forests, buttes and canyons. It’s mainly farm land with typical crops of corn, wheat, hay, soybean and oats with many cattle ranches and hog farms. Famous for having the tallest sand dunes and the hanging lakes near Glenwood Springs.
