Leave motel for a road trip of 240 miles into Tucson take in the Interstate 8 east then merge onto the Interstate 10 passing through the Sonogran Desert and National Monument, Casa Grande, Eloy and Marania.
The Desert and National Monument is located south of Goodyear and Buckeye one of the richest regions of desert habitat protected by North and south Maricupa Mountains and Table Top Wilderness.
Casa Grande is in the Pinal County ex mining town founded in 1878 famous for the Casa and Hohokam Ruins. Visit the National Monument Prehistoric Ruins Museum to get an insight to the area.
Eloy home to a large Detention Centre and Marana is the Pinal Aircraft bone yards miles and miles of old planes.
Tucson is a city in Pima County an expansive city with the west being blocked by the Tucson Mountains and Cactus Desert having a mixture of old and new dwellings. El Presidio is the oldest neighbourhood, also many more historical neighbourhoods to explore, well worth the visit to Downtown area.
Continue the road trip onto Phoenix travel west on the Interstate 10 for 116 miles. This is a large city founded 1861 with a population of 4.2 million people situated in the Maricopa County near the Salt River known as the valley of sun. It’s as large areas of skyscrapers with mountains and desert as a back view best way to view is a drive around.
The most scenic area being the Pleasant Lake west side of Phoenix of artificial reservoirs having a number of boats docks and beach access good for water sports.
