Leave site and pick up A1 south travel 17 miles into Alnwick.
A picturesque small market town in Northumberland located on the River Aln dating back to AD 600. The old town still retains original character from the mediaeval period with points of interest being the Playhouse, Castle and Garden areas. To capture the whole scenic flavours available take the open top bus trip around the old town and Castle including the grounds.
Resume trip onto Amble southeast for 9 miles on the A1068.
A small North Sea coast town with a harbour, pier, beach and marina with a small fishing fleet located on the River Coquet with a visible view of the Coquet Island.
Resume trip northeast to Hexham for 50 miles via A1and A69.
Hexham – Carlisle
Explore the Hadrian’s Wall and follow the B6318 stopping at points of interest along the way at the Once Brewed visitors centre, Haltwhistle, Lanercost Priory and into Carlisle. Return back to the site covering the same route along trip but well worth the journey.
